Care & Cleaning

Care & Cleaning

Your case is made from resilient, stain-proof silicone leather, and doesn’t need regular care or upkeep beyond an occasional wipe down.

But making art can be a messy business! If your case comes into contact with some of your paints, markers, or cosmetics, here’s how to get it looking good as new again.

How to Clean Your Tempermentals Case

Almost all stains or marks can be removed with either water, rubbing alcohol, or dish soap.

Ink Based = Remove with Alcohol

  • Permanent markers (Sharpies, etc)
  • Alcohol markers (Copic, OLO, etc)
  • Paint pens (Posca, Molotow, etc)
  • Gel, shimmer, metallic, and other specialty pens/markers
  • Acrylics
  • Inks (India, Sumi, etc)

Oil/Cream Based = Remove with Dish Soap

  • Oil paint
  • Foundation
  • Lipsticks
  • Mascara

Important: After using any cleaning products on your case, make sure to wipe it down again with plain water to remove any residue.

Tips

  • Remove stains as soon as possible.
  • Try alcohol first (70%+) on a cloth or cotton pad.
  • Don’t be afraid to push down and scrub a little. You have to dislodge the stain from the pebbled surface of the leather.
  • If alcohol isn’t working, switch to dish soap.
  • The toughest stains we’ve found so far come from red or pink inks, and can leave behind some ghosting of color. In that case, use a little bleach directly onto the stain applied with a q-tip. Leave for a few minutes, and wipe away. That should remove any remaining marks.
  • Watch the zippers! The zippers are regular fabric, not stain-proof like the rest of the exterior case. Marks on the zipper can be handled like marks on clothing–scrub with dish soap, laundry soap, oxyclean, etc.

    About Silicone Leather

Our cases are made from silicone leather–a clean, eco-friendly fabric made without animal products. It’s non-toxic, extremely durable, pollution free, and low-energy / low-resources to create.

You’ll find it as a plush seating fabric in luxury vehicles and private planes. They even use it on yachts, since it resists sun-fading and seawater corrosion. It’s also used in hospital equipment and medical devices as it is non-allergenic and non-irritant.

Building our cases from silicone not only makes them resilient and stain-proof, but also saves energy, uses fewer resources, and creates a much healthier product for you and for the earth.

They are PVC and PU free. No plasticizers, phthalates, heavy metals, BPA, formaldehyde or PFCs, and no leaking of VOC emissions.
